West Core Drilling worked on the FerrAus Pilbara Project for a period of 3 to 4 yrs across a number of different iron ore deposits, providing core samples for a range of purposes including exploration, metallurgical, and geotechnical studies. Overall, Westcore did an outstanding job consistently for a long period of time.

The exploration core drilling was often technically very challenging, exploring for buried Brockman and Marra Mamba Iron Formations in a very remote region of Western Australia. West Core provided a service which achieved high levels of productivity, great core recoveries in highly degraded Marra Mamba Formation rocks, at a reasonable cost. Importantly, the drilling expertise was consistently of a high calibre, supported by a very competent and committed management team.

Westcore supplied a diamond rig and associated support vehicles and accommodation for a 3000m PQ program at McPhee Creek. Throughout the program they worked hard to achieve good recovery in difficult drilling conditions, and at all levels communicated well with the Atlas personnel on and off site. Safety requirements were met and any opportunities to improve that were identified were addressed promptly.

From our initial pre-contract evaluation meeting through to mobilisation, on-site drilling and periodic contract reviews we have appreciated your level of commitment and willingness to proactively improve health and safety management for the benefit of employees from both companies.

Together we have successfully completed a diamond drilling program without any significantincidents or serious harm to our people. Some 4,519 metres of drilling was carried out with inexcess of 8,400 hours being worked by WCD employees on site. This achievement by WCD and the level of planning and onsite management of this drill program is commendable and demonstrates that safe discovery is achievable.
